Presidents-elect Training Seminar (PETS) is right around the corner. If you haven’t already, be sure to contact the DGEs in your districts, as appropriate, to offer your services.
One way to contribute would be to offer to speak about the membership resources that are available to clubs. The following membership-related publications were included in the PETS mailing that went to DGEs for distribution to their club presidents:
901 Membership Development and Extension Award Program
421 Membership Development Initiative Form
416 Recognition of Smaller Club Membership Growth
808 Organizing New Clubs Guide
001 This is Rotary
595 Rotary Basics
254 How to Propose a New Member
422 Recognition of Membership Development Initiatives
641 Your Club, the District and RI: Partners in Membership Development
--- Membership Goal Report Form
414 New Member Orientation
417 Membership Development Resource Guide
All of these publications are available on the www.rotary.org website and many are on your field tool kit CD-ROM or your 2009-10 jump drive.
As always, if you are attending PETS, make sure your travel is pre-approved by RITS. A link to the RITS Travel Request Form can be found on the left side of this blog.

Next weekend, I'll be speaking on Membership at D5550 PETS in Winniprg.
The following weekend D5370 PETS in Edmonton.
The following weekend D5360 PETS in Calgary.
So all of my districts' PETS will be covered off.
From Jim Ives, Zone 29:
I am scheduled to speak at the All Ohio PETS, and I will be working individual breakout sessions at the Great Lakes PETS. Director Elect Tom Thorfinnson will be speaking on Membership at that PETS.
From Abdul Rauf Rohaila:
My dear RRIMCs,
District 3270 has 183 clubs spread over all over Pakistan and Afghanistan. Traditionally two PETS are held. AGTS, DTTS and PETS were held 6-8 March, 2009 at Karachi. The AGs, District Chairs, Club Pressidents and Secretaries were apprised of the importance of memebership. The tools to retain the members and invite more prospective persons were highlighted. About 200 delegates attended. However it was rightly observed during RRIMC training Seminar that RI should emphasize each DGE to get support from RRIMC in PETS, District Assembly, Membership Seminars and District conference.
Yours-in-Rotary,
CDG Abdul Rauf Rohaila,
RRIMC 6B Asia.
From Sam Movva, Zone 6A:
I did one AGTS and will be doing two PETS in March and April.
Regards,Sam
From June Webber, Zone 20A:
Am in the process of forward planning with all four Districts to participate as suggested in your mail. Shall highlight the membership resources below in our forthcoming membership newsletter.
From Noel Trevaskis, Zone 8:
Thanks for the information, I will be attending a number of PETS and District Assemblies which I will pass on the information about the publications, tat information will also go into our national membership newsletter which goes to over 2,000 Rotarians in Australia.
From Greg Yank, Zone 31:
I am speaking/training at all four PETS in my Zone covering 13 districts during the month of March.
From Rob Wylie, Zone 8:
I've just returned yesterday from District 9570 (Central Queensland) PETS/Assembly where I spoke on Membership and a couple of other topics. That went well. But Rotary can be exciting - we broke up early on Sunday morning as a magnitude 5 tropical cyclone (a hurricane to my American friends) was sweeping south just off the Queensland coast and everyone wanted to get home, including me, before they had to close Rockhampton airport. Fortunately it stayed out to sea and is now heading for Brisbane - I may yet experience it.
Most Districts in Australia have single District PETS due to the large geographic areas covered. This coming weekend I will speak at PETS in 9640 (Saturday) and 9600 (Sunday).
Districts and clubs are aware of the need to work on membership. We just need to keep them focused and keep them aware of the tools you mentioned below.
Rob.
From Nelson Kawalya, Zone 20A:

Kind regards

Thanks for the mail. Just finished our District 3140 PETS yesterday. All resources have been given to Presidents Elect. Had session on Membership as Group Discussion session. I will be going to PETS of D3131 and D 3030 in April.
In Zone 33, (Mid Atlantic States USA of SC, NC, VA, E.TN, WV, MD, DC & DE) all DGEs have had personal phone calls from me immediately after RRIMC training. All have been requested to attend and encourage attendance at the Presidential Membership Seminar, Washington DC/ Baltimore MD, beginning March 28, and the Zone 33 Membership Seminar that precedes it.
March 5-6: Presenter at Chesapeake PETS (3 Districts) on 2009-10 Membership Goals and March Madness theme, following RI Membership Committee Chair Mike McGovern on program. I was resource person for DGE, DGN and district breakout sessions. My wife and I are Faculty Trainers for this event and redesigned the materials, including membership sections, for this year. Staffed Membership Booth with attractive graphic backdrop and RI Membership Materials.
March 6-7: Presenter at West Virginia PETS (2 Districts). Led 90 minute breakout sessions for each district with March Madness theme, including segments with Membership Jeopardy, the Rotary Now! video (screened at RRIMC training), Hands slideshow and exercises, Rotary Leadership Institute video, and more. Keynote Speech Saturday at Lunch was on Five Ancient Strategies for Leadership Success.
March 19-21: Invited to Carolinas' PETS (7 Districts) as Membership Resource, and will participate in several district breakouts. Will staff Membership Booth.
April 3-4: Invited to District 7570 (VA) PETS (1 District). Will provide Membership Program and Plenary Session. Will staff Membership Booth.
That's 13 of 15 PETS, with one other PETS still meeting with Zone 31-32 Districts this year before moving to Chesapeake PETS next year, and one PETS (7770) being a conflicting date with another prior engagement.
Whew!

.I have prepared letters to be sent this week to District Governors of 2450,2482 and 9010 for attending their PETS .
From Manoj Desai:
Many thanks for activizing the group in a big way. In the last two years, this is the first time I am seeing so many emails from our friends! It augurs well and might lead us to have significant growth even in areas not growing well !
I have incorporated the resources in my presentation.
It seems that I have only one weekend at home till 1st July as I am attending 8 PETS, 4 Regional Membership Seminars, 2 DTTS & AGTS, 2 District Assemblies and 7 Membership Seminars . Still 3 Districts are yet to submit their dates for Membership Seminar. I am sure the tips will be of great use in all of them.
Happy to hear that no friend is affected in the cyclone .
It is heart warming to see Indian's performing well not only in cricket but also on Membership front. Can you believe that this year we have started 47 clubs in Zone 5 and 36 clubs in Zone 6 totalling to 83 clubs in 33 Districts of India, Nepal and Sri Lanka?! This has raised the temperature in most parts to nearly 40 degree celsius.
Wishing you all a wonderful time ahead.
RRIMC Dr. Manoj Desai
From Patrick Chisanga, Zone 20A:
We have already held Pets in Zambia and Malawi – both being part of D9210.
PETS for the remainder of the District will be next month in Zimbabwe and Mozambique. We will be having an input in both.

From Barbara Risher Welch:
In Zones 23 and 24, Judi Beard Strubing and myself cover 3 PETS on the west coast. I was invited to train in membership at the So.
California/Nevada PETS on Feb. 20-22, Judi was invited to train in membership at the Pacific Northwest PETS on March 6-8th, and the two of us were invited to have a membership table at the Far West PETS on March 6-8th, but no training. Hopefully in the future, the RRIMC's will be invited to train at this PETS as well. The 3 PETS are all run very differently. Thank you to the RI Membership Division for mailing the membership materials to the DGE to handout to the PE's at PETS.
This makes our lives much easier when we refer to specific materials and the PE's have them in front of them. I am enjoying this new communication between all of my RRIMC colleagues!
From Valentin Cismaru:
Dear Carrie and friends,
PETS in the Zone 19 District 2241 will be March 27-29.
